Monday, April 28
Linda Griffin, (B.A. SDSU / M.L.S. UCLA), is the Fiction Collection Librarian at the downtown
San Diego Public Library, and a published author as well, (Stonebridge, 1994). She will tell us how authors can get their books selected for purchase by the library system, an often overlooked and lucrative market. She will also discuss the Annual Local Authors Exhibit and Reception (deadline for books published in 2008 is December 1st). Over 150 books written by local authors are displayed during the month of February each year. For the list of authors honored at the January reception, go to http://www.sandiego.gov/public-library/ and in the left hand column, click on "42nd Annual Authors Library Reception."
Linda has years of experience with the library helping emerging and professional
writers, so she will also share helpful resources available at the library for every genre.
As a bonus, she will tell us about their website and special features we can take advantage of from home, plus what's going on with the future of the much debated downtown Central Library. Linda will also provide us with lots of helpful library handouts. What you learn here tonight could save you a ton of time and sputtering, and will undoubtedly benefit any writer. Bring your questions for the Q&A session to follow.
